Case Studies

In order to succeed in a startup, its employees must be chameleons. That’s why Spec Consulting Group has a proven multilayer approach to its services - we dig deeper and find solutions to issues beneath the surface.
Here is how our founder, Victoria Spektor, has used this approach in the past.

The Mission

Create a cohesive brand experience for a national retailer headquartered in NYC in under six weeks before the peak of the holiday season began.

The Solution

STEP ONE:
In order for a brand to be cohesive to the public, its internal operation must be aligned.

Victoria united the Creative, PR, and Marketing teams to form one Brand Department. She enforced weekly team meetings where departmental goals, long and short term projects, and overall company objectives were discussed. This gave the team a better understanding of where their individual piece of the puzzle laid and allowed for the department to think as one.

STEP TWO:
The team needs to work efficiently in order for them to work effectively and cohesively.

Victoria met with each team member individually in order to get a firm understanding of their current responsibilities and workload as well as their personal and professional goals. She observed the team’s work over the coarse of several weeks in order to best assess their strengths and weaknesses. Within three weeks, Victoria rolled out clearly defined roles and responsibilities for each member of the team that took into account their individual goals while bringing out their strengths.

STEP THREE:
Create brand guidelines.

Working with the President and CEO on their vision for the brand, Victoria managed the process for creating and implementing the company’s first ever brand guidelines.

STEP FOUR:
Clearly define merchandising, communication, and customer service guidelines for the retail stores.

Victoria created a comprehensive guide that touched on everything from internal communication protocol between Retail and Marketing to how merchandise should be displayed in each store to how associates should interact with customers. This guideline was rolled out to all retail locations.

STEP FIVE:
Implementation.

With the brand guidelines distributed to the entire corporate team and the retail guidelines shared across stores, the shops’ display elements were all updated to mirror the eCommerce site.

The Result

Working with an aggressive timeline, Victoria managed the project to deliver results above expectation and ahead of schedule. The company experienced its highest-grossing holiday season to-date and the longterm effects of bettering the internal function resulted in the team’s continued ability to turn around complex projects within tight deadlines.
